Abstract:
The article examines the peculiarities of the functioning of private professional theaters in Ukraine in the 21st century. The prerequisites for the formation of an independent theater sector are considered, the organizational models of private theaters, their economic structure and repertoire policy are analyzed. Special attention is paid to commercial mechanisms for ensuring theater activities, interaction with the audience, and modern cultural management tools. Using the example of modern Ukrainian independent theaters, various models of functioning of private theater groups are considered.
The main challenges faced by the private theater sector are investigated, and the prospects for its development in modern socio-cultural conditions are outlined.
The theoretical basis of the study was the works of Ukrainian scholars in the field of theater studies and cultural studies, who consider the transformation of theater in the conditions of the modern socio-cultural environment.

In the process of work, methods of analysis and synthesis were used to generalize scientific approaches to the functioning of the theater in market conditions, comparative analysis – to compare state and private models of theatrical activity, elements of socio-cultural analysis – to study the interaction of the theater with the audience; a systematic approach allows us to consider the theater as an integral part of cultural industries; an empirical research method was used based on practical experience in the functioning of independent theatrical projects.
