Abstract:
The article proves that the stage image is an indispensable and significant element of reproducing the content of a literary and artistic work. Thanks to the fusion of individual artistic fragments into a single, integral, living image during the creative process, the director and actor get the opportunity to achieve an artistic, emotionally saturated reproduction of the life of the main characters through the expressiveness of the performers’ actions on stage.
A stage image is interpreted as a holistic, artistic fiction created by an actor and director on stage, which combines the appearance (costume, makeup, hairstyle), manner of behavior, plasticity, voice and internal state of the character. A stage image makes it possible to embody the creative idea of the author of a literary and artistic work, aimed at conveying a certain idea and emotional impact on the viewer and motivating him to a certain emotional experience and perception of the storyline of a literary and artistic source. Thanks to professional skill, the actor goes through a complex process of transformation on stage, creating a stage image. The ways of forming such an image are different and require constant work on oneself, and also depend on the dramatic material and the individuality of the actor.
And the professional training of the actor, his interaction with the dramatic material, the director’s idea, the stage space and the viewer play a crucial role here. The ability to create convincing and life-truthful images of one’s characters is both a product of artistic imagination and a life reality that exists at the moment of performance. During the stage transformation, spiritual perception and emotional reproduction of the image of a stage character, deep psychophysiological, spiritual and emotional processes occur, which are transmitted to the viewer and make it possible to perceive both the artistic image of the main character and the content of the literary work.
Keywords: stage image, director and actor, literary and artistic work.
