Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the issue of applying problem-oriented technology in teaching foreign languages to students managers of higher education institutions. It is known that an important trend in the reform of the modern higher education system in Ukraine is the approach to international standards for training specialists, which require a graduate of a higher educational institution to have a proper level of proficiency in a foreign language.
Modern technologies for teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions consist of a wide range of methods and forms, the use of which ensures an active way of studying this academic discipline. One such technology is the problem-based approach to organizing the educational process and independent work of students. Problem-based learning includes a system of methods and techniques through which a problematic learning situation is created to engage students in active independent activities related to its resolution.
In practical classes of the discipline «Foreign Language for Special Purposes», during independent search or research work, students not only acquire language knowledge and speaking skills but also develop logical-analytical thinking and creative abilities. Depending on the level of language training of future managers, methods of problem-based learning are used, such as problem presentation of material, partially search-based, search-based, and research-based.
The article presents the experience of using certain methods of problem-based learning of foreign languages, which are applied at various stages of foreign language training of future specialists in management specialty. It has been proven that the practice of active and conscious assimilation of the program material by students contributes to solving a wide range of tasks, namely: the development and consolidation of skills in independent and team work, the realization of creative potential, an increase in motivation for learning, and the acquisition of public speaking competence in a foreign language.
