FORMATION OF GENERAL CULTURAL COMPETENCES OF FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN VOCATIONAL PRE-HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract:
The article considers the current problem of forming general cultural competencies of future primary school teachers in the conditions of institutions of professional pre-higher education. An analytical review of the problem at the level of the conceptual apparatus, the determinants of the essence of the concepts: competence – general cultural competence – socio-cultural communication – communication competence – language competence. Three main aspects of the system of professional competencies of primary school teachers are highlighted: competence (socio-cultural competence), cultural-communicative (foreign language competence), and professional training (professional training of future primary school teachers). The author's own position on determining the essence of the concepts of «competence» and «general cultural» competence of primary school teachers is presented. General cultural competence is one of the important components among the professional competencies of any future specialists, and in particular, primary school teachers. The article reveals its functional significance: general cultural competence is determined by the evolution of the individual and society, creating a common canvas of interpersonal relationships and a deep mastery of cultural heritage; it incorporates the principles of tolerance, develops analytical and evaluative skills in the context of national, European and world achievements in science and culture; general cultural competence provides the ability to create the foundations of spiritual and moral behavior in one's family, school, region, country, as well as to compare national culture with the culture of other regions and countries, It is noted that socio-cultural competence is interconnected and procedurally ensured by the functioning of such competencies as communicative and foreign language. The significance of the connection between general cultural competence and linguistic and foreign language is emphasized: language, as a medium between the past and the present, ensures the assimilation of traditions and customs of national culture, which forms national memory, dignity, and mentality. Methods of forming general cultural competence in future primary school teachers are presented.
