The concepts of «distance learning» and «distance learning technologies!» are defined. The article presents the comparative analysis of the development of distance technologies in traditional universities and on specialized online platforms in countries such as the USA, Great Britain, Poland and Ukraine. The distance form of learning in these educational institutions involves the development of an arsenal of technical means and infrastructure of learning management systems, the expansion of technical capabilities and is becoming an integral part of modern education. It is determined that higher education institutions around the world have a common goal – to ensure a high level of education under any circumstances, while maintaining the highest academic standards. It is stated that modern innovative technologies provide real opportunities for differentiation of education, orientation on individual capabilities and abilities of each student.
