Demo Day 2026
Wednesday, February 25
5:30-7:30PM
Demo Day is a non-competitive showcase where students share early ideas, prototypes, or concepts and get feedback in a low-pressure, community environment.
This event is designed to help you take a first (or next) step toward starting something of your own. It’s a chance to share what you’re working on — even if it’s still rough or unfinished — and learn by talking with others who are curious, supportive, and interested in your idea.
You don’t need a polished pitch or a fully formed venture to participate.
All participants are eligible for the Building Momentum Pitch Recording Prize Pack! Three participants will be randomly selected to win one of these packs that include wireless lavalier mics, a phone tripod, a USB-condenser desktop mic, and more to support your next steps (e.g., recording your pitch for this year's Blaze Venture Challenge)! Must be present as participant for full event to be eligible; limit one prize pack awarded per team.
Already registered? Be sure to review the Demo Day Guidelines to help you prepare.
Demo Day brings together student entrepreneurs working on a wide range of venture concepts to publicly demonstrate what they are building. Participants may present physical prototypes, digital mockups, service concepts, or early business models in a science-fair-style format that encourages conversation and feedback, not formal pitching.
The focus is on conversation, curiosity, and learning — all for the sake of moving your idea forward.
Demo Day is open to UIC undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and backgrounds. Participants may:
Be exploring an idea for the first time
Be working toward the launch of anything from a side hustle to a high-growth startup - Both for-profit and non-profit concepts are welcome!
Be testing an early concept or prototype
Be looking for feedback before taking next steps
Attendees include fellow students, mentors, faculty, staff, and community members who are there to ask questions, offer encouragement, and share perspectives.
During Demo Day, students:
Share their ideas or early prototypes
Talk with attendees about what they’re working on
Ask questions and gather feedback
Learn by seeing what other students are building
There is no single “right” way to participate — the goal is to show up and engage!
Demo Day helps students:
Build confidence sharing ideas before they feel “ready”
Learn what about their ideas resonates with others and what needs refining
Practice explaining their ideas in simple, clear ways
Gain motivation and momentum to keep going
For many students, Demo Day can be the moment when an idea starts to feel real — and worth pursuing.
You are certainly welcome to participate in Demo Day as a standalone event, but Demo Day pairs well with Spark Series Labs and can serve as a stepping stone toward future opportunities like the Blaze Venture Challenge.
