The aim of this study is to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the school readiness process for African American families with young children with disabilities transitioning to kindergarten.
It is anticipated that the findings of this study will support families, like yours, in developing culturally relevant resources and recommendations in navigating the school readiness process.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
African American primary caregivers of an African American preschooler with a suspected or diagnosed intellectual or developmental disability/delay who are currently transitioning to kindergarten, in kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade during the 2022-2023 school year in Illinois.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ELIGIBLE?
WHAT WILL MY PARTICIPATION INCLUDE?
Complete a demographic questionnaire
60–90-minute (phone or video conferencing) interview. Participants will have the option to have their interviews audio recorded.
WHAT WILL I GET FOR PARTICIPATING IN THIS STUDY?
You will receive a $50 Target gift card following the completion of the interview.
