Hello, I am Jun Young Kim.

I am an assistant professor of philosophy at Dankook University. I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I also hold an M.A. and a B.A. in Philosophy, a B.A. in Religious Studies from Seoul National University, and an LL.B. in Law from Korea National Open University. 

My research focuses on seventeenth-century philosophy, with particular emphasis on metaphysical questions concerning dependence, essence, and modality. Much of my work centers on Leibniz, especially his views on compossibility, possible worlds, and priority by nature. I am also interested in less-studied early modern figures, such as Anton Wilhelm Amo, and in situating early modern metaphysics within broader philosophical and historical contexts.

일리노이 대학 시카고 캠퍼스에서 철학 박사학위를 받았으며, 서울대학교에서 철학 학사와 석사, 종교학 학사, 한국방송통신대학교에서 법학 학사를 취득했습니다.

주 연구 분야는 서양 근대 철학과 형이상학입니다. 라이프니츠 등 유명한 근대 철학자들 뿐만이 아니라 안톤 아모 등 많이 알려지지 않은 철학자들의 철학적 작업들도 관심있게 연구하고 있습니다. 서양 근대 시기의 다양한 철학적 문제들을 함께 고민하고 연구할 학자, 대학원생, 학부생들의 연락을 환영합니다.
