Laboratory Testing Services inquiries can be done through phone call, email, or walk-in. However, if in bulk, samples are preferred for booking.
Payment: Full payment or at least a 50% downpayment of the total bill is required upon submission.
Water and Wastewater:
Minimum of 4 liters plastic gallon for Physico-Chemical Analysis (full no air space)
Oil & Grease
1 liter wide-mouth glass bottle, screw-capped and covered with foil.
Cyanide (free)
500 mL amber bottle
Microbiological Test
For the microbiological test, a minimum of 300 mL in a sterilized glass bottle (pay a deposit of 10.00 per bottle; it will be refunded when the water samples are submitted).
Unused Wilkins bottle (mineral water) is acceptable as an alternative.
For BOD/Physico-chem samples:
Wednesday to Friday (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM / 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)
For Microbiological samples:
Monday to Wednesday (8:00 am - 11:00 am / 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm)
For samples with no BOD & Microbiological test:
Monday to Friday (8:00 am - 11:00 am / 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Research Services & Use of Facilities Requests may be placed in person.
Conducting Thesis Research
Coordinate with SRC analysts early at the start of research.
Provide own chemicals, supplies, and glassware from the UIC stockroom.
Special glassware not available in the stockroom may be borrowed but used only inside SRC lab.
Use of facilities is free of charge.
Submitting Research Samples for Analysis
Services provided at a discounted fee.
UIC students: 50% discount (25% for microbiological tests).
Graduate students: 25% discount (no discount for microbiological tests).
Discounts apply only to UIC student research samples.
Use of Rotary Evaporator
First-come, first-served basis.
Register the request in the booking form.
Samples processed in the order of request.
Service is free of charge.
Requesting Other Equipment
Request at least a day before use.
Using Equipment for Class Demonstrations
Coordinate with the analyst in-charge.
Request solvents/chemicals from the stockroom.
Inform SRC at least a week in advance if special preparation is needed.
Analyst assists during demonstration.
Conducting Research

Provide all necessary chemicals, supplies, and glassware.

Submitting Research Samples
Institutional research samples: 25% discount.
Thesis research samples by UIC graduate school faculty: 25% discount.
Thesis research samples by faculty enrolled elsewhere: subject to regular criteria.
