Phase III: Post-Instruction Analysis and Revision
Step 6: Analyze Results
In this step, the librarian and teacher can reflect on the integration of the technology tools. They can discuss the various stages of the process and ask students for written and verbal feedback. By reviewing assessments, they can determine if students were able to meet the learning objectives outlined in Step 3. Additionally, the educators can assess the strengths and weaknesses of the plan by evaluating if students were successfully able to use the tools, if time was used efficiently, and if additional strategies were needed to support student learning. In reflecting, the library can use a Technology Impact Checklist to guide the reflection process. By spending time reviewing the process, the librarian can make changes for the future technology integration and adapt future lessons.
Example: The Technology Impact Checklist shared below can be used to reflect on the implementation of the content, pedagogy, and technology integrated into the plan.
Step 7: Make Revisions
The final step in the TIP process will be to make the changes needed to improve the integration of technology. The librarian and content area teacher can revisit Step 1 and adapt the plan based on the results discovered in Step 6. This might include making changes to the amount of time students have in learning or using the technology tool. It also might mean making changes to the type of technology tool used to facilitate student learning.
Example: If students were successfully able to use the tools to select electronic texts and digitally annotate the materials, then the new problem might be a way for students to keep track of their reading or share notes and research. Together the US studies teacher and librarian could use the TPACK analysis to determine if notetaking platforms such as OneNote or Evernote would be helpful for students to use in the future. They could also determine what types of multimedia presentation tools students might use, such as Sutori, Thinglink, AdobeSpark Video, or Google Sites.
