Cross-Cultural Storytelling and Service, May 2025
Through the University of Georgia’s Service Learning in Africa course, I spent a month in Moshi, Tanzania, working with the OKAT non-profit children’s home. Alongside local staff and UGA faculty, I assisted with record-keeping while building meaningful relationships with the children who lived there.
As part of the program, I also authored a biographical children’s book for my friend Regina —combining service work with storytelling to celebrate her individuality and experiences. This project deepened my understanding of community-based collaboration and the power of narrative to affirm identity and connection across cultures.
Mount. Kilimanjaro
Alongside a group of UGA peers, I spent a week hiking Mount Kilimanjaro, navigating long hours and altitude changes together. The climb required patience and steady collaboration; learning to pace myself, support others, and stay grounded under pressure. Reaching the summit was less about the height itself and more about the persistence and teamwork it took to get there.
