Oregon Too Much for Broncos in Regular Season Finale
Oregon Too Much for Broncos in Regular Season Finale

The Broncos hosted a talented Oregon squad on the regular season's final day, looking for a tune-up before the WIAA playoffs begin on Tuesday. The two foes have met twice prior, in the 2022 and 2023 WIAA D2 Sectional Finals, both matches going the way of the Panthers. The 2026 rematch would be no different, as the talented visitors pressed the Broncos relentlessly for the duration of the match. UG did well to sustain the pressure and counter in the 1st half, trailing only 0-1 after 40 minutes and generating a handful of quality chances of their own. The 2nd half was all Panthers though, as they wore down the Broncos with wave after wave of attacks scoring 4 times sending UG to the harsh 0-5 defeat. Junior goalkeeper Sam Antonneau made 8 saves and kept the Broncos in the match early, but it was just too much Oregon. "They're good, very good... would much rather face a team like this before the playoffs. We got exposed by an excellent side, but we can fix some of our errors and be ready full swing next week" summarized Coach Jung. The Broncos will open the 2026 playoffs with Stoughton on Tuesday night (7pm), looking to rise from the ashes of last season's harsh exit. Good luck ladies, be ready for a long run and go Broncos!
Broncos Wrap '26 Season; Finish 7-3
The Broncos wrapped up their 2026 season on Friday, May 29th, against Division 1 powerhouse Oregon. The Broncos played well, generating some quality chances, but Oregon was just too much. The loss to close out the season does not take away from all that Coach Gonzalez and the JV team accomplished this year.
The 2026 campaign started with a lot of questions. The roster was composed of just three players with high school experience: Junior Taelyn DeDecker, who also served as team captain, and Sophomores Lily Agallar and Aubree Krueger, who split time between JV and Varsity. They were joined by 11 players who were new to the Broncos Soccer Family. Despite a roster of only 14 players and so little experience, the Broncos went to work every day and steadily improved.
Their hard work was quickly put to the test as injuries decimated the Varsity roster during the middle portion of the season. With Agallar, Krueger, and Freshman Rylan Rattle starting the season pulling double duty, DeDecker, as well as Freshmen Savannah Byrne, Aubrey Ersing, and Alayna Ignasiak, would all get the call-up to join the Varsity squad.
The 2026 JV poses for a team picture following their final match of the season on May 29, 2026.
"We could not have made it through this season without these girls and their hard work. They kept us going and gave us quality minutes. We asked a lot of them, and they stepped up!" commented Varsity Assistant Coach Del Ponte.
In the face of their limited roster and having to carefully manage playing time, Coach Gonzalez and the JV authored a very impressive season. They finished the year with a 7-3 record overall while going 5-1 in Southern Lakes Conference play. The Broncos outscored their opponents 41-16 on the season, winning six of their matches via shutout. Following the Oregon match, a reflective Coach Gonzalez noted, "I know a lot of credit goes to the seven players who got Varsity minutes, but I am so proud of this entire team. They worked so hard and improved every day. Their futures are so bright. There is a lot of talent there!"
The JV will gather one final time at Michaels on the Lake on June 17th to celebrate everything they have accomplished this season. The Broncos Soccer Family cannot wait to see what these girls do next season! Great season, ladies!
