Barsch's 1st Half Hat-Trick Helps UG Win 4th Straight Regional Title
The 2025 Broncos pose for another team photo, this time at home following their WIAA Regional Final win over Waterford on Saturday night.
The Broncos made quick work of Waterford on Saturday night, ending the match in the 69th minute via an 8-0 mercy rule win. The victory send UG to their 4th consecutive WIAA Regional title and 5th all-time, the first coming in 2018. Senior Ethan Barsch was the 1st half hero, finishing classmate Niall Hagen's cross in the 8th minute, then junior Cam DaPra's deflection in the 30th, before scoring solo in the 39th for the quick hat-trick. Sophomore Colt Danielson added his own tally in between in the 29th, and the Broncos led comfortably 4-0 at the break. It was DaPra who made a great run and header of sophomore Mason Rick's serve to start the second half in the 48th, before Hagen notched his 22nd goal of the '25 campaign in the 61st. Then senior Kellen Vermeer put an exclamation on the match with 2 late goals, the first assisted by Barsch in the 65th, and then a lefty bar-down rocket to end the match in the 69th. "Tempo was right, energy was right, attitude was right... good signs moving forward. It's just one match, but a lot of positives to take away from tonight" commented Coach Jung after the win. Junior Finn Jacobs did not need a save in his 10th shutout of the season. Next up UG hosts Tenor Veritas Academy on Thursday night (10/30 @7pm) in the first-ever WIAA Sectional match for UG played at home. Good luck boys, keep advancing and go Broncos!
JV Broncos End the Season with 3-1 Win at Bradford Thursday
The JV Broncos finished off their 2025 season with a 3-1 road win over Kenosha Bradford on Thursday afternoon, ending an impressive 6-1-3 run in their final 10 matches. Sophomore Sean Barsch was the only goal-scorer in the first half, taking the ball solo for nearly a 30-yard run and finishing with his left foot into the far side netting in the 28th minute. Leading 1-0 at the half, UG doubled their lead through sophomore Brennan Moore, who took junior Andrew Hansen's pass atop the box and fired past the diving keeper just a few minutes into the 2nd half. Bradford would respond with a goal soon after, but Moore would strike again finishing classmate Lucas Boll's drop pass in the 68th to put the match away with another impressive 20-yard strike. "Great Finish to the season, great final month really... the boys have started clicking and connecting, wish we had two more weeks!" commented Coach Jaworski after the match. He also praised sophomore Carmelo Ciardo for his defensive play on the day. The win concludes the 2025 JV soccer season, with the boys finishing 7-6-4 overall, and 2-3-1 in the Southern Lakes Conference. Great run to end the season boys, congrats, we'll see you at the banquet and of course, go Broncos!
