Broncos Blank Waterford, Inch Closer to Elusive SLC Crown
Junior Austin Polzin (#20 with ball) surveys his options in the attacking third Tuesday night versus Waterford, as several Broncos look on in support.
If you arrived a few minutes late on Tuesday night, you'd have already missed two quick goals by senior Niall Hagen and a 2-0 lead for the Broncos over Waterford. Hagen made a great driving run through midfield and finished into the right side-netting in the 4th minute to open the scoring, and then finished a penalty kick soon after in the 5th. In fact, the Broncos playing an impressively dominant opening 10 minutes, but then their tempo and tenacity slowed down a bit to finish the half, settling for the two-goal advantage at the break. Hagen would make a second penalty in the 61st minute to make it 3-0, and then senior Ethan Barsch scored unassisted into the far side-netting from in close to seal a solid 4-0 win. Junior Finn Jacobs did not need to make a save in earning his 6th shutout of 2025. "We've still got a decent amount to work on, especially in the attacking third, that final pass... but we took care of business and we're inching closer to accomplishing one of our goals" commented Coach Jung after the win. Next up the Broncos will travel to Kenosha to take on Tremper on Thursday night (6:30pm). Good luck boys, stay focused and let's go Broncos!
JV Broncos Can't Find the Finish in a Harsh Loss to Waterford
The Broncos did a lot of things well on Tuesday evening versus Waterford, but one of those things was not finishing, as they couldn't find a way past the Wolverine's goalkeeper in a tough 0-1 defeat. Sophomores Lucas Boll, Brennan Moore, and Sean Barsch helped the Broncos press into the Waterford end on multiple occasions, generating a handful of chances. The JV Broncos out-shot Waterford 21-13 in match and spent the majority of the 2nd half peppering the goal, but the finish just never came Tuesday. Coach Jaworski also complimented junior Cole Stehling for his play in the back despite the loss. "Frustrating match because we moved the ball, tackled well... just did a lot of things well, but the goal never came. Part of soccer I suppose, but this one stings a little" summarized Jaworski after the loss. Next up the JV Broncos will travel to Kenosha to take on Tremper on Thursday (4:30p) at Amechi Field. Good luck boys, bounce back on Thursday and go Broncos!
Junior Garrett Klepel (#14) pushes forward against Waterford on Tuesday, looking to find sophomore Lucas Boll (#15) off in the distance up top.
