Barsch Signs with Loras After Exceptional Senior Campaign
Graduating senior Ethan Barsch (pictured above with family) commits to play soccer at Loras College next fall following a great senior season and 1st Team All-Conference/1st Team All-Racine County selections.
The 2025 Broncos finished 16-3-2 after a 2OT defeat at Whitefish Bay in the WIAA Sectional Finals, but along the way they won their second-ever Southern Lakes Conference title going 6-0-1 in the league, followed by their 4th-consecutive WIAA Regional title defeating Waterford 8-0 at home. UG earned a state-ranking of #1 in the first weeks of the season, also their first all-time, and pushed eventual D2 state champion Whitefish Bay to the brink. Senior Niall Hagen led the way, becoming on the second Bronco in history (Jackson Barber '22) to earn both Conference Player of the Year and County Player of the Year in the same season. Niall was also All-State for the third straight season to go along with 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-County, with classmates Ethan Barsch and Dylan Fox joining him with the same final two awards, Barsch recently committing to play at the next level at Loras College in the fall. Junior goalkeeper Finn Jacobs earned 2nd Team All-Conference and All-County, junior forward Cam DaPra did the same. Junior defender Frank Zimmerman was 2nd Team All-County and Honorable Mention All-Conference, while seniors Owen Sheahan and Cade Dobrinska both earned Honorable Mention All-County for their 2025 efforts. It's only the second-time all-time that the Broncos earned 8 honors (2022) while impressively having won the Racine County Player of the Year for the past 4 seasons! For our returning guys, there are big shoes to fill so let's put in the work to keep us atop Racine County. Open gyms run every Sunday (see schedule below). Thanks Broncos!
Broncos to Hit "Reset" in 2026; Rebuild or Reload?
The Broncos have had an incredible run since Covid hit back in 2020. 2022 marked the first-ever Southern Lakes Conference title for UG, as they went on to win their 2nd-ever WIAA Regional title as well that year, earning a WIAA state ranking as high as 5th. 2023 exceeded all expectations, as the Broncos shocked Wisconsin reeling of 20 wins and the WIAA Division 2 State Championship! The following year was another Regional, before 2025 saw UG top the D2 State rankings for the first time in history and their second-ever conference title, but they fell to Whitefish Bay in 2OT in the WIAA Sectional Finals. Now, after watching 9 seniors graduate, the Broncos will have to find a way to stay in prominance as the landscape of high school soccer continues to change. "MLS Next is depleting a lot of high school programs. In rare cases, it's a great opportunity for kids, but for many, it's a huge expense with little-to-no return... but we've got talent returning in 2026. We can still be successful if the boys decide we will be" said Coach Jung in April. Seniors Cam DaPra, Frank Zimmerman, Urijah Rosa, and Finn Jacobs will have a lot to say about UG's success in 2026, as will juniors Colt Danielson & Mason Rick. Time will tell, have a great off-season and go Broncos!

2025 Bronco Highlights
2025 Highlight - Senior Niall Hagen scores an historic 4 goals at Whitefish Bay in the WIAA D2 Sectional Final back in early November, including a game-tying goal in the final 20 seconds to force OT; but the Broncos would fall in 2OT.
2025 Highlight - Senior Niall Hagen scores the GOAL OF THE YEAR in the Bronco's final regular season match at Kenosha Bradford, an incredible volley to give UG a 2-goal lead in the 2nd half.
"The thing to try when all else fails, is again."
- John Hagee
