I am currently working on my Bachelor of Arts in Educational Sciences with a specialization in Educational Technology. Upon completing this degree, I plan on pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Leadership (M.Ed) and a Master of Science in Business Analytics (MS-BA). While working on this degree, I plan to work at a Florida State College. I was fortunate enough to earn my Associate in Arts degree through Polk State College in high school. Therefore, it was completely paid for by the articulation agreement that the state has. I value giving back to the community that helped me flourish into the man I am today.
At this time, I am still determining what specific role I want to play in education. But I am sure that I want to work in postsecondary education. I have always envisioned myself working as a Provost for Academic Affairs, but I enjoy teaching. I will start off working as an instructional designer while being an adjunct professor. As an adjunct, I plan to teach the first-year seminar course that allows students to acclimate to the college. I am very passionate about higher education and have mentor experience so that students would have a rewarding experience. After I teach a few classes, I will decide if I want to become a full-time professor. If I choose to teach full-time, I plan to teach first-year seminars and introductory education courses.
After teaching for several years, I plan on applying to be the department chair for my respective field. I will hold that title for a few years before transitioning into an Associate Dean in Academic Affairs position. I want to be that dean to whom students feel comfortable speaking about anything, not just academic affairs-related issues. I interacted with someone at my state college who was like this, which made me feel at ease and welcomed. I want to move into The Dean of Academic Affairs position if and when the opportunity arises. I will hold this title with great honor and continue solving academic issues within the college. I will attend several events to interact with the community. My utmost goal is to hold a provost position, but I want to ensure I have a wide variety of experience before accepting a position like this. This position is critical and something I will work towards in my education career. I am excited and eager to see what my future holds.
