The Florida V.I.P. for Healthy Communities Program is part of a multi-level, community-based health education and community action program with the overall goal of reducing health differences in COVID-19-related outcomes among rural and minority communities. Through our partnerships with Florida Extension Health Navigators (FL-EHNs), we seek to raise awareness regarding health equity issues in our priority counties and support individuals and families in staying well during the pandemic.
FL-EHNs are community leaders who are trained to support our current health equity initiatives such as Florida VIP for Healthy Communities.
We prioritize the following counties under our current initiatives:
Franklin
Gadsden
Hamilton
Jackson
Suwannee
Taylor
FL-VIP is a community resource for those who are interested in learning more about adult vaccines, including COVID-19 and flu. We provide science-based information to help Floridians make informed choices regarding how to best protect yourself, your family, and your community from vaccine-preventable illnesses.
We host educational events, mobile health clinics, and town-hall style meetings with community leaders and health experts.
FL-VIP is funded by EXCITE (Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching & Engagement), a collaborative agreement between the CDC and USDA-NIFA and is administered by the Extension Foundation.
