Landscape professionals often inquire about two courses; the Green Industries Best Management Practices certification and the Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance training. We partner with agents from neighboring counties to offer these courses throughout the year so if you can't make it to a class locally, you may be able to join us at a later date nearby.
This is a 5-module training program to guide you on turfgrass and landscape management practices to protect water resources.
A certificate of completion of this training is a requirement to apply for the Limited Certification for Urban Landscape Commercial Fertilizer license.
Updates on current codes & ordinances are offered at our trainings directly by the Alachua Co. Environmental Protection Dept.
This training offers up to 4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for license renewal under these categories:
Core Ornamental & Turf Limited Urban Fertilizer Limited Lawn & Ornamental
Limited Landscape Maintenance Private Applicator Commercial Lawn & Ornamental
Download the new GI BMP English manual and have access to all the BMPs
**The GI BMP training is available online at any time directly from the Florida Friendly Landscaping Program.
This license is available for landscape maintenance contractors applying pesticides to plant beds and ornamental plants.
Update: The 6-hr training (either face-to-face or online) is NO LONGER a requirement. Exam review classes will still be offered as a 4-hr class but sitting in the class is no longer mandatory.
Apply for your license and exam through the FDACS portal. Exam fee ($150) must be paid through the portal
Schedule your exam through Everblue. Pesticide exams are NO LONGER offered at Extension offices.
Study materials are available from the IFAS Bookstore in Gainesville, either by ordering online or by calling 1-800-226-1764:
To renew your license, you must either retake the LCLM exam or accumulate 4 Continuing Education Units (2 Core CEUs & 2 Category CEUs) and pay a fee ($75) directly to FDACS through their online portal.
The LCLM training offers 4 CEUs in the following categories:
Core Limited Landscape Maintenance Ornamental & Turf Limited Lawn & Ornamental Private Applicator Commercial Lawn & Ornamental
