About the course
The Interinstitutional Doctoral Program in Literature is an expansion of another class in the Graduate Program in Literature (PPGL) at the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN), resulting from an agreement with the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Sertão Pernambucano (IF Sertão-PE), the host institution.
The Dinter PPGL-UERN/IFSertão-PE program is based at the Salgueiro Campus, located in Sertão Pernambuco, 276 km (4 hours and 25 minutes) from the headquarters of the Host Institution in Pau dos Ferros, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte.
The Dinter program's last defense was recorded on February 26, 2024, and had a total of 24 alumni. See the table below for defense records!
Goals
The course's goals are:
a) to train up to 25 (twenty-five) professionals already working at IF Sertão/PE at the doctoral level; and
b) to integrate DINTER-trained PhDs into current and future stricto sensu graduate programs at IF Sertão/PE.
In this sense, the course aims to:
1) train high-level PhDs committed to advancing knowledge for the practice, especially in research and teaching at the graduate level;
2) stimulate the production and dissemination of knowledge in the field of education and scientific and technological education; and
3) contribute to ongoing and critical reflection on educational processes aimed at training professionals in education and scientific and technological education.
How does it work?
The Dinter PPGL-Uern/IFSertão-PE program follows the Internal Regulations for the Master's and Doctorate Programs in Literature of the Graduate Program in Literature, approved by Consepe/Uern through Resolution No. 044/2014 – Consepe/Uern. It has the same curriculum, with courses taught by the same faculty, who will guide students according to the area of concentration "Discourse and Text Studies." The program aims to train professionals capable of understanding discursive practices in different spheres of human communication, building knowledge, from an interdisciplinary perspective, about the construction of meaning and the relationship between discourse and society, discourse and text, in its three lines of research, namely:
Line 1 - Discourse, Memory, and Identity: This line articulates research that relates discourse, memory, and identity, investigating the production of meaning in different discursive fields, in diverse socio-historical contexts of production, circulation, and reception.
Line 2 - Text and Construction of Meaning: articulates research on the factors responsible for the production of meaning in texts, considering the elements involved in production and reception, with a view to offering contributions to the teaching of texts.
Line 3 - Literary Text, Criticism, and Culture: articulates research within the scope of literary studies, using different approaches, encompassing both the study of literary texts as aesthetic objects and their relationship with other forms of cultural production.
The implementation of the Dinter PPGL-Uern/IFSertão-PE course expands the range of training and education for IF Sertão-PE staff, not limited to Literature professionals, but also to those in languages and humanities as a whole, such as those in Literature (Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Libras), Physical Education, Computer Science, History, Geography, and Pedagogy, for example, thus serving the clientele of the seven campuses of the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Sertão Pernambucano (IF Sertão-PE). Within this interdisciplinary approach, the Dinter PPGL-Uern/IFSertão-PE program profiles graduates as professionals capable of understanding how meaning is constructed in diverse practices and discursive fields. They can analyze the production, organization, and circulation of discourses and texts, considering their sociohistorical conditions of production, and understand texts as objects of scientific investigation and language teaching and learning. Thus, graduates of this program must be capable of teaching and researching in their field and effectively intervening in local and regional contexts, both through teaching, thus contributing to the improvement of teaching in basic and higher education, and through scientific research, coordinating and guiding projects significant to the development of the region and the scientific advancement of language studies.
