The Spring league is a club season through American Water Polo (AWP) where UDWP registers an 18u girls team and 18u boys team. The season starts March 19th and ends May 24th. The goal of the Spring season is to gain more insight, game experience, and try out a new fun sport. The Fall season (beginning in mid-August through October) is the high school PIAA season for both boys and girls. To get an idea about the Fall season, click on the tabs at the top to redirect you to past years.
There is an additional National State Challenge Tournament in the Summer (July 11th-14th) organized and run by AWP hosted this year at Wissahickon and North Penn High School. We are tentatively planning on entering both a boys and girls team if there is enough interest. This would cost $50 per player (plus must be an AWP member).
**Please note that 8th graders may participate in practices and games with the high school team in the Spring. However, there is no bus in the morning to take them from the high school to the middle school; so it is not necessarily expected for 8th graders to come to morning practice. Nevertheless in past years there has been good attendance from the 8th graders if they are able to get a ride. There is a bus that takes them from the middle school to the high school in the afternoon.
Also, note that 8th graders, when signing up for the high school 18u team may play in the middle school games when there is no conflict. This will allow them to gain experience at the high school level and middle school level.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at any point - cianni@udsd.org.
Thank you.
