I observed a grade 11 classroom taught by Ms. Eunice Alyssa N.Musnit. The class usually focused on oral communication and academic writing. In each session, the teacher would check the progress of each group and provide detailed and specific feedback every week. The teacher starts class by asking students to review the previous lesson in order to assess their understanding. Students raise their hands to respond to the questions, but they also check their previous assignments to see how they can review the lesson on their own. Students were instructed to read the assignment questions, then respond. The teacher then invited them to discuss their thoughts or the rationale behind their response. Notwithstanding the challenging material, the teacher engages with the class at all times and uses examples to help the pupils grasp it.
Teachers use PowerPoint as the main reference to give instructions and materials and open videos from YouTube to mix and complement each other to increase learning content.
The teacher frequently uses a projector to project images onto the wall while in class. It is possible to change the display's size as necessary. The students' visibility is significantly improved overall, despite the fact that moving the desks around can occasionally be a little challenging.
For oral ommunication class, teacher assign speaking assignments in formal speak so that students can practice speaking. For academic writing class, students will be given different writing assignments on different topics. Teachers will review students' writing regularly during each class, giving detailed marks and constructive feedback to each one.
