When does registration close for winter 2024/25 programs?
Registration is open now. Programs start the week of October 21. Don't delay!
What if I was already registered in October?
If you were registered in the October, you are still registered in the winter block and it will be a continuation of the same program. New participants will pay a pro-rated price to join for the final 8 weeks of the program where space is available.
How will the program operate? When are practices and how much does it cost?
Check out our Program Description page to learn about the mini programs (U4-U8) and community programs (U9-U12).
What equipment does my Mini player need?
Every Mini player will receive a Tim Hortons jersey, shorts, socks, and a size 3 soccer ball (while supplies last) from UDFC. This gear can be picked up during the first two weeks of practices. Shin pads are mandatory for U5-U12's, and are not provided by the club. SNEAKERS are required for the gym floors. Mini players should NOT wear CLEATS on a gym floor. Clean Sneakers only!
U9/10 and U11/12 Community players will train on TURF on Sundays. They should wear cleats in addition to their shin pads and socks. The U9-12 programs won't receive Timbit equipment. These players will use a size 4 ball.
For the mini program (U3-U8) - how do I get my child’s uniform?
Mini families can pick up your uniform at your respective program in the first two weeks of practices. Players who do not have a jersey before their first practice can attend in activewear.
Is there still a need for coaches?
We’re always looking for coaches! No prior experience is needed! Our program runs on the generous time contributions of our volunteers. Please check out the Coaches Corner Tab for more information. There will be staff present at the program so coaching is actually very easy as you will be a helper while the staff coaches take the lead. Have fun interacting with the players.
What happens if I am a coach and need to miss a practice?
If you need to miss a practice, please contact your Head Coach so that we can find a substitute coach if needed. Please notify us at least two weeks in advance so that the practice runs smoothly.
How will I know if my practice is canceled due to poor weather?
As all practices are held inside, in HRCE school gyms, United DFC follows the guidelines of HRCE. If schools are closed due to weather, the program will also be cancelled that day (even if the storm has ended).
An email will also be sent to you from your Mini Program Coordinator or Mini Manager Program to alert you of the cancellation. Occasionally, United DFC will cancel a program even though the school is open if the roads are deemed unsafe to travel.
Will my child participate in any tournaments?
There are NO Tournaments planned for the winter mini or community programs.
What is Physical Literacy?
Physical Literacy is the process of mastering different fundamental movements necessary for sports. In the mini program, this involves learning and playing games with different movements such as running, jumping, balance, etc.
When is the Winter Holiday Break?
Our mini and community sessions will be on break in December. Dates will be shared with participants
When is the last session of the season?
Our mini and community sessions will end on Monday, March 3.
