As an Exa UDEM, it was a dream of mine for my current students to have the opportunity to experience COIL, just as I did when I was a student at this very university. It’s incredible that, through a platform like Zoom, UDEM students can create spaces for learning, knowledge, and discovery with students from UNIMINUTO University, exploring cultural, ethical, spiritual, and technological dimensions.
The project, titled “Ethics, Culture, and the Person in Digital Identity,” unfolded over several sessions thanks to the invaluable support of Professor Lina Patarroyo and Professor Miguel Caballero from the Minuto de Dios University Corporation, in collaboration with myself as a faculty member at UDEM. The goal was for students, in addition to learning about both cultures, to generate meaningful reflections on their digital identity; this was applied in the course “Changing My Spiritual Life” offered by the Department of University Spirituality for the DEUS Service.
The project is grounded in each student’s personal experience and sociocultural context, promoting an ethical, humanistic, and intercultural perspective that fosters respectful dialogue, empathy, and understanding of others in globalized digital environments.
Thanks to projects such as COIL, we can enrich our students’ learning and promote internationalization at home.

Thanks to the COIL experiences, especially with UNITEC in Honduras during Fall 2023, I was able to generate meaningful collaborations. Alongside Architect Valery Ochoa Perdomo, students produced videos about archeological sites, enriching their learning and intercultural connection. In addition, I had the opportunity to give a lecture on my book about the Álvaro Obregón Industrial School and its Art Deco style, and to participate in a podcast on teaching art.
These iniciatives have also allowed me to collaborate with the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and to present at international conferences such as CIEBC 2024 and UNITEC'S Innovation in Education Congress. This year, I will return to Honduras for new conferences, and I continue exploring opportunities such as the COIL Congress in Greece.
