From the past four years of studying business classes, merchandising and advertising, my knowledge, understanding, and thought process of the industry has grown tremendously. Choosing this major and minor combination has given me the opportunity to learn more about topics I am very passionate about. I am eager to enter the working world and have a great impact.
Key Learnings:
I have learned how to merge creative ideas with marketing and operations planning for a well rounded business understanding of the industry.
I experienced first hand how adaptable and resilient the merchandising/fashion industry is by seeing how the industry quickly shifted gears to develop new, creative practices during the pandemic so companies and brands could continue to grow during these uncertain times.
Due to the pandemic there has been a shift from brick and mortar shopping to e-commerce and I have learned how important the internet and technology is for the industry.
Sustainability is at the forefront of importance now more than ever for any business industry. Sustainability is one of the main topics that is discussed daily within many of my classes. We see now more than ever that most brands are shifting towards a more sustainable process within their companies to better our environment.
Technological advancements have changed our perspective on marketing and sales. With a greater focus on e-commerce and online branding, it is important that as management/merchandising students, we have a strong grasp on this technology. With smart clothing on the rise and other intricate technologies implemented into the industry, we will continue to learn and see a shift in how the industry runs on a daily basis.
