Mathematics standards are interconnected concepts, not isolated entities. These standards exhibit relationships within and across different grade levels. The Coherence Map visually represents this interconnected structure, highlighting its fundamental role in shaping college- and career-ready standards. Teachers can refer to the Coherence Map as a foundation for planning Math DI lessons. Check out the video to learn more about the Coherence Map!
This video will introduce you to the Coherence Map found on Achieve the Core. In this video, you will see how you can backward map to identify standards that will support student learning when deficits exist in working funds of knowledge. As always, your school success specialist can spend some time with you to plan differentiated lessons by using this resource to identify standards and tasks that can be taught during Math DI.
Teachers can use these lessons during small group instruction when differentiating for students who are experiencing deficits of knowledge in specific topics or standards.
