Main Meeting: Lodging Options

We are offering two primary options for the main meeting:

1) On site: For those who prefer a great location, inexpensive housing and convenience, we offer on site lodging with meals in the dorm at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, the location of the main meeting.

2) Off site: For those who prefer traditional hotel accommodations and do not mind staying offsite, we have reserved a block of rooms at the AmericInn at Silver Bay, 16 miles from Wolf Ridge (about 25 minute drive).

If you stay offsite and you attend the meeting on Saturday at Wolf Ridge, you MUST pay an additional $40 for the Saturday meals and activities at Wolf Ridge to attend the meeting. This includes breakfast, lunch and the banquet.

There are also other hotels, B&Bs and campgrounds nearby. This is tourist season in northern Minnesota, so it is imperative to MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY.

On site dormitory style living.

Rooms. Most of the simple but elegant dorm rooms are divided into two sections. Each section has two bunk beds, but we will use bottom bunks only, so each section will sleep two. A sliding door separates sections from each other and from a shared bathroom and shower per room. Linens provided but there is no maid service. No TV’s in rooms. In addition to several small gathering areas, there is one large central common room, with a spectacular view, for relaxing or gathering. Divided rooms will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Meals. Meals are served cafeteria style. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available. Most lunches will be bag lunches to maximize time in the field. At each breakfast, Wolf Ridge will set out items for participants to make their bag lunches.

Internet. WiFi is available. Cell signals are spotty but ATT and Verizon have decent cell phone signals.

You must select package A or B and pay when you register. Refundable up to 05 July 2018.

Package A: for those participating in the premeeting trip on 12 July ($325)

We only have 4 rooms available with a total of 16 bunk beds and may have to use top bunks depending on demand. You may need to take your linens and move to another room.
Includes lodging up to 8 to a room, top and bottom bunks, meals Monday lunch through Tuesday breakfast.

A block of 20 rooms has been reserved until 11 June. You can still reserve after 11 June at the group rate, but rooms are in high demand this time of year and the hotel may be sold out.

Group rate from $139.95 to $149.95 per night plus tax night depending on room type.

Please call (218) 226-4300 and ask for group reservations and tell them you are with the Science Conference.

Includes many hotel amenities such as free breakfast, in room microwaves and mini-fridges, WiFi, hot tub, sauna, pool and maid service. A meeting room will be available to congregate in the evenings or meet up in the morning.

Cell phone coverage is similar to Wolf Ridge above.

Upgraded rooms and suites are available on request depending on availability.

The nearest restaurants are in Silver Bay and Beaver Bay (3 miles south).

Wolf Ridge Meal Plans for those staying off site:

OPTIONAL: Daily meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) available for $40 per day.

MANDATORY: If you attend the Saturday meeting from offsite, you MUST buy one day meal plan for Saturday which includes the meeting and three meals (breakfast, lunch, banquet) at Wolf Ridge.

Reservation Information

Check-in on 9 July 2018 and checkout on 11 July 2018.
The group rate for rooms is $104 plus taxes per night.
Reservations can be made by calling 763-786-2000. Please ask for reservations and tell them you are with the Dragonfly Society. All reservations must be held with a major credit card. Reservations for individual rooms must be made no later than 12:00pm on 06-09-2018. Reservation requests made after this date are available on a space available basis but will no longer be guaranteed a room type or the team rate.
Full payment of the reservations will be due upon check in by major credit card.
Check in time is 3:00pm and check out time is at 11:00am. No late checkouts will be honored during the meeting.
If an individual FAILS to CANCEL their guaranteed reservation by 12:.00PM on 07-08-2018, they will be liable for their FULL amount. This constitutes a no-show and the reservation fee becomes property of the hotel.
