Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. in conjunction with the Solidaridad, Inspiracion, y Amistad Community Foundation, Inc. is proud to award the ExcelenSIA scholarship to help with the educational cost of college. Applicants must be a Latina or Latino high school junior or senior. or a student advancing to an accredited 2 or 4 yr academic institute or vocational training. Candidates must also: be a community Community member that demonstrates community involvement, a dedication to build and serve through service and an appreciation of cultural diversity.

The Annual Memorial Scholarship Program is designed to assist outstanding students with the cost of this education in recognition of students’ hard work and their interest in pursuing higher education. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit, teachers’ references, an original essay, awards and recognition, and extracurricular and community service activities.

This award is open to students studying any form of visual and/or performing arts who write an essay expressing their views on creativity and courage. Releasing art into the world involves overcoming fear and self-doubt. Even the most successful artists grapple with questions like “am I good enough?” or “will people like this?” If you’re a creative student who has ever struggled with these questions, we encourage you to apply for this scholarship!

This scholarship is for high school students who have struggled with mental health, or have loved ones with mental health challenges. Participants must write a story of less than 1,000 words explaining how their experience with mental health has shaped their goals, relationships, and understanding of the world. Click for more info!

Those applying must plan to attend college during the fall semester of the year they apply. Additionally, students must attach a letter of acceptance from the college they intend to attend, as well as a recommendation letter from a teacher, mentor, or employer. The essay itself is a 500 to 1,000 word response to one of the two prompts listed on the page. Check out the link for more info!
