Lee-Karlon is a bioengineering alumna ( M.S. ’93, Ph.D. ’96) and president and CEO of EpiBiologics, where she leads the development of next-generation bispecific antibody therapeutics in oncology and immunology. She has held leadership roles at Altos Labs and Genentech, where she guided transformative therapies from research to global launch. A former National Science Foundation Fellow, she remains deeply committed to advancing science, medicine and inclusive leadership. At UC San Diego, Lee-Karlon currently serves on the Jacobs School of Engineering Dean’s Council of Advisors and previously served as its chair.

Moreno is a bioengineering alumna (M.S. '14, Ph.D. '19) and is the founder and CEO of Navega Therapeutics, a company dedicated to transforming patients’ lives through AI-enabled epigenetic therapies, with a focus on treating intractable pain and inflammatory disorders. While at UC San Diego, Moreno's research focused on developing epigenetic gene therapy platforms using CRISPR-dCas9 and zinc-finger technologies. She has authored multiple high-impact research papers, holds six patents and received numerous prestigious awards and fellowships, including the 2025 UC San Diego Chancellor’s Innovation Award.

PJ Loury loves finding new and innovative ways to give back to his alma mater. While at UC San Diego, PJ started our department’s Engineering World Health chapter before earning his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering in 2013. PJ also serves as Vice President of Alumni Engagement on UC San Diego’s university-wide Alumni Board of Directors. He is passionate about strengthening UC San Diego’s alumni network through community building, volunteerism, and philanthropy. PJ began his career in fitness tracking and wearables before transitioning into software product management. He holds a Masters degree in Translational Medicine from UC Berkeley/UCSF and an MBA from Stanford University.

Her pioneering work that merges microelectronics with biology—including the CRISPR‑Chip for real‑time genetic mutation detection and graphene‑based biosensors—has earned her the inaugural Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature and led her to found UC San Diego’s Center for Technologies for Healthy Aging and the startup CRISPR QC.
