The Shu Chien‑Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering is marking its 60th anniversary of our program by showcasing the cutting‑edge research happening in our labs today. The Department of Bioengineering invites our deparment bioengineering graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and collaborators to submit poster abstracts that showcase the research that has shaped our field over the past six decades.Â
Deadline for submission: April 25, 2026Â

Date of poster session: May 22, 2026 (afternoon, concurrent with the main 60th-anniversary program).
Location: Qualcomm Institute - Courtyard.
Poster size: Standard 36 in × 48 in (landscape) board; additional boards available on request.
Supplies: The department will provide board, pins, and basic supplies.Â
"Bioengineering the Future of Humanity - 60 Years of Innovation"
Must be original research (experimental, computational, or theoretical)
Presentation types can include:Â
Translational/clinical studies
Engineering design and prototype demonstrations
Interdisciplinary collaborations that involve a Bioengineering investigator
Presentation topic areas are broad, and include but are not limited to:

Abstract length: ≤ 250 words, clearly stating purpose, methods, results, and significance.
Authors: List all contributing authors with institutional affiliations.
Format: PDF file (single-page, 8.5 × 11 in).
Naming Convention: PIName_Poster Submitter LastName, i.e. Aguado_Potter.PDF

A panel of faculty and senior researchers will review abstracts for scientific merit, relevance to the anniversary theme, and visual clarity.
Notification of acceptance: by May 15, 2026 via email.
