Is the program really free?
Yes! The Summer Success Program is free for students who participate.
What does it mean that the program is not for course credit?
This program is a non-credit bearing course, which means no official course grade will be given. However, 20 hours towards the Co-Curricular Record (CCR) will be given! By participating in this program, you can be recognized on the Co-Curricular Record (CCR). The CCR is an official record printed with your transcript that highlights your experiences and skills developed in opportunities beyond the classroom. You can use your CCR to help write your cover letter, resume, or prepare for an interview. Order and submit your CCR Transcript to employers, graduate/professional school applications, and for awards.
Does the program include math support?
Yes! Every subject track includes foundational math support to help students prepare for STEM coursework. Math is an integral part of the STEM courses at UC San Diego so every subject will touch on foundational math skills that is connected to the subject discipline.
Does selecting a track, cohort, or modality guarantee placement?
No. Indicating your preferences helps the program understand your interests and availability, but it does not guarantee placement in a specific track, cohort, or modality.
Are the short-response questions in the form graded ?
No. The short-response questions are not graded and are not evaluated with a rubric. They are included so the program can learn more about students’ goals, interests, and support needs.
What if I have a summer job, travel plans, or other responsibilities?
The Summer Success Program runs for just 5 weeks, from August 3, 2026 to September 4, 2026, so we ask students to participate consistently and attend workshops regularly. Students with minor or occasional scheduling conflicts are welcome to join! However, if you anticipate major summer commitments that may make it difficult to participate throughout the program, please reach out to Ysabel Nevarez at aah@ucsd.edu for support.
