Peer Coach Job Description:
Peer Coaches play a pivotal role in supporting first and second year, first-generation college students in SSCP. As a Peer Coach, you are part of a Success Team that works with Professional Success Coaches to support first and second year students who are the first in their families to go to college. In this role, you will be trained and supported to build meaningful relationships with a select group of diverse students. Peer Coaches are equipped to use success coaching frameworks and strategies to assist students from an asset-based perspective with reaching their unique personal, professional, and academic goals.
Peer Coaches are trained using an internationally recognized model (our program is certified as a level III College and Reading Learning Association Peer Educator Program) and they also receive a nationally recognized NASPA Student Leader Certification. Once Peer Coaches have completed training and passed a national certification exam, they will assist a caseload of students with transitioning to the university, answering questions about college life, providing success tips on academics, student involvement, cultivating belonging on campus, and more.
Peer Coaches will work with students in one-on-one interactions and in group settings to offer caring support to help students navigate and thrive in the ever-changing demands of college life.
