Why Use MDTP?
In this session, I will share some of the many reasons to use MDTP, such as free access to online and paper testing on demand, the test development process, the predictability of MDTP results based on statistical results of field testing for validity and reliability, and the longevity of the program. I will also provide an overview of the components of the free MDTP Assessment System and ideas for implementing MDTP throughout the year and using the robust data to understand what students know using an equity mindset. Finally, I will briefly introduce the breakout sessions designed to support your efforts to use MDTP resources to support student learning through the progressions of mathematics.

Getting Started: The Nuts and Bolts of Using MDTP
Are you new to MDTP or returning after a break? Join us to learn how to: set up testing (online and paper), score paper test responses online and receive instant results, access MDTP online data and interpret it using an equity mindset to learn what your students know, and opportunities to share MDTP results with students and parents. We will also share ideas for using MDTP throughout the year to support best practices. This content is appropriate for all secondary math educators (6-12).

What Do Students Need Now? Using MDTP with an Equity Mindset
Are you preparing to use MDTP diagnostic tests and interpret the data? Join us to learn how to interpret MDTP diagnostic results using an equity mindset to determine what students know and what they need to know to access the math in their current course. Discuss how to define focal areas in their current course and determine the prerequisite skills necessary for success at that level and use MDTP diagnostic data formatively to plan effective and efficient lessons to address what students need to know now. This content is appropriate for all secondary math educators (6-12).
Dr. Emiliano Gómez
MDTP Site Director
UC Berkeley
10:00 - 11:00am
You Have the Data; Now What?
Do you wonder how MDTP can support you after you have MDTP diagnostic data? Join this session to learn how to use two MDTP post-test resources. First, we will briefly look at MDTP diagnostic results to learn how to interpret MDTP diagnostic results using an equity mindset and discuss implications of identified misconceptions. Next, we will explore how a featured module lesson and Written Response Item unpacks misconceptions and re-engages students in learning experiences that bridge understanding to their current course work. And last, we will explore MDTP formative constructed-response items (FCRIs) and share how they can be used as a quick check to learn what students know after instruction has taken place based on an identified misconception. This content is appropriate for all secondary math educators (6-12).
