Daily Procedure

Building & Space Information

Meetings & Events

(1) Before arriving on-campus

Complete the Daily Symptom & Exposure Screener with Christina Knerr Frink (cknerr@ucsd.edu) as supervisor.

Building hours & capacity

  • Winter Quarter Hours

    • Freight elevator will be unlocked

    • Lobby hours (unlocked hours):

M-F 6:30 am – 9:00 pm

    • Campus ID card required for entry during locked hours.

  • Capacity: Full capacity (including grad offices)

Meetings

  • Allowed, but virtual recommended

  • No eating or drinking

  • Masks must be worn at all times

  • Meeting definition: Employees (including academics) or students gathering for the purposes of day-to-day business operations.

(2) Masking requirement

Indoors: Required at all times and N95 or KN95 is strongly recommended (update 1/26/2022)

  • Exception: Fully vaccinated employees may remove masks while actively eating or drinking at the employee’s workstation or while actively eating or drinking in an employee break room. Unvaccinated students and employees must continue to eat either alone in a closed office or closed room, or physically distanced from others outdoors or at a campus eatery.

Outdoors: Recommended

  • Except: Required when around large crowds

Events

  • As of 1/26/2022: Meetings and special events that can be held remotely should be held online unless the in-person experience is critical. It is strongly recommended that all in-person meetings and special events are temporarily convened outdoors. We will continue to evaluate the public health conditions and update our guidelines when appropriate.

  • Event definition: Any planned gathering at UC San Diego, including but not limited to celebrations, lectures, forums, social gatherings, speaker presentations or conferences where 25 or more people are in attendance or reasonably anticipated to be in attendance.

    • Does NOT include: Academic classes or seminars, department meetings, lab meetings or other routine business meetings.

(3) Find Staff Support & Location

  • Primary staff contact: Front desk Language Lab & Library (AP&M 3432A)

    • Student workers will be able to support most department operations or find a staff member that can help

  • Staff are now working on a hybrid schedule:

    • On-campus staff calendar

    • There will be a minimum of 2 staff members on-campus each day to support department operations

      • Note: Most staff will be working in their office with the door closed!

    • Staff not on-site will be working remotely and available by e-mail, phone, or a Zoom appointment

      • They can still help with many things:

        • Put in a facilities request

        • Place an order

        • Answer questions

        • Help find someone to help you!

Shared Space Guidelines

  • Masks must be worn at all times

  • Wipe down surfaces before/after use

  • Leave spaces in the same layout as you found them
