One social challenge we faced in our prototyping process was motivation. We received feedback from some students asking what the motivation is to meet in person when they were already in a group online? To this we have no answer other than it is up to the individual. As mentioned, we found in our research that it is much more beneficial and even preferred in a small sample group to meet in person, but nothing but the individual themselves can motivate this movement.
Another social challenege that we run into was that the studnets would be more comfortable and less nervous in a home seeting instead of meeting in person with other students. This would be again the individual studetns decision on wheter or not they would like to meet in person or online.
The final social challenege that we faced was that stundents may have social anxiety and the lack of speaking proficiency which will casue them to shy away from any public gatherings with their peers. We have no way to help people with social anxiety or speaking proficiency all we can do is to encourge them meet with their peers so they can get over these challeneges and better be perpared.
