Hello! I'm David Gao, a fourth year PhD candidate in the Mathematics Department at the University of California, San Diego, under the advice of Adrian Ioana. I will be a Brin Postdoctoral Fellow in the Mathematics Department at the University of Maryland, College Park beginning in August 2026, under the mentorship of Srivatsav Kunnawalkam Elayavalli.

My research interests are in tracial von Neumann algebras, metric approximations of groups and group actions, and model theory of operator algebras. My email address is weg002@ucsd.edu.
