Introduction

This is a special version of "Introduction to Communication" (COMM10). It was originally developed in March 2020, a time of crisis created by the unexpected irruption of COVID-19.

Crises are unique moments, where our routines, practices, priorities and values are suddenly upended, if not entirely inverted. But crises can also be moments to reflect about what is really important in our lives, and about what could, or should, be otherwise when our lives return to normal.

This version of COMM10 is an attempt to create a space for that kind of reflection by transforming the class into a collective experiment of imagination. It does so by using fiction as a pedagogical tool to think about the COVID-19 crisis.

The purpose of this website is to introduce the class to students and digital dilettantes. You can see a description of the fiction around which the class is organized, how the class is supposed to work, and how the fiction has unfolded so far, as well as all the pedagogical materials needed to reproduce it.
