ARCH@UCSD Project Team 2021
PC: Doris Liu & Ethan Olson
Thurgood Marshall College was founded on the cultural representation of marginalized and underrepresented students on-campus. Student activism led to student protest which, in turn, led to change of spirit in the university as a whole. Students mark that if they had remained silent about the underrepresentation of minorities on campus, nothing would have changed. The Chicano Legacy Mural is a visual representation of how UCSD took the first step to fight inequality and discrimination through their administration.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Our team would like to acknowledge the fact that UC San Diego sits on un-ceded territory of the Kumeyaay Nation. We respect their rights, sovereignty, and their relationship with the land.
