The study of horizontal gene transfer (HGT), the mechanism by which pathogens develop antibiotic resistance, within bioreactors is currently insufficient due to current methods’ inaccuracy to natural conditions alongside their high requirements for manual effort if efficient gene transfer and thus faster experimentation is desired.
