The UCSC Climate Coalition is an independent coalition of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members focused on raising awareness of, and advocating action on, environmental and climate justice at the University of California, Santa Cruz and throughout the UC system.
Our Goals: Based on UC's and UCSC's history of dealing -- or not dealing -- with global heating and true environmental justice
Electrification: Advocate that UCSC move beyond purchasing carbon offsets for "carbon neutrality," and instead create a plan to be fossil-fuel FREE by 2030.
Education: Create further opportunities for students to learn about climate science, climate justice, and climate change mitigation by establishing a climate education GE requirement at UCSC.
