GEAR UP is a federally funded program designed to increase the number of socio-economically disadvantaged students who are ready for college and career options after high school.
Through collaboration with SHS administrators, counselors, teachers and staff, Soledad Unified, and community partners, GEAR UP uses research-proven practices to increase academic preparedness and to support a college-going culture in our community.
Our services and resources are free of cost to our Class of 2023 students and families.
The UC Santa Cruz EPC serves as the purveyor of the Soledad GEAR UP grant. The EPC equips middle and high school students with the knowledge, tools, and support network to navigate the academic pipeline and advance toward higher education. The Center offers college and academic prep services and materials that motivate and empower students of diverse backgrounds to seek and achieve a college education.
