Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (oSTEM) is a national student society dedicated to increasing the participation of people who identify with lesbain, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, or ally (LGBTQIA+) communities in disciplines related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). The oSTEM at UC Santa Cruz chapter aims to :
Serve and affirm people who identify as LGBTQIA+.
Promote participation from and development of LGBTQIA+ communities in STEM disciplines.
Support and contribute to the dynamic network sustained by oSTEM.
Provide education, outreach, and professional resources to local high school, undergraduate, and graduate students when appropriate.
Actively recruit and address the needs of diverse LGBTQIA+ groups within the university community, inclusive of those who are historically underrepresented with regards to gender, gender identity or expression, and ethnic background.

Our puprpose is to foster communal support and leadership among LGBTQIA+ students in the STEM fields.
Participation in oSTEM is open to all UC Santa Cruz undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and staff, however leadership roles can only be held by graduate students.
