The Salt and Pepper Talks

My Master's Essay examines a school desegregation effort in Sausalito, CA in 1965. It was one of the first desegregation efforts in the United States that was not initiated with a court order. 25 oral history interviews and a collection of over 200 new primary source documents shape my argument that what occurred in Sausalito represents a civil rights story of the west, one that differs from other events in the south and north east.
