My name is David Duncan and I am a second year history PhD student at UC Santa Cruz. Before graduate school I was an EMT for 8 years and had various jobs with fire departments, ambulance companies, and hospitals. I decided to change careers and become a historian. I was introduced to oral history through a colleague and immediately was drawn to its many parallels with my previous career. Although my Master's Essay was focused on school desegregation, I hope to be able to expand my research to wherever my oral history research takes me.
