The cohort will meet roughly every other week between October 2023 and May 2024. The meetings will be held in a hybrid mode. There will be two satellite sessions for each meeting, one at UCSC and the other at CSUMB. These sessions will be run in parallel, connected through a common Zoom session.
We will follow a D3 methodology: Discover, Discuss, and Development:
The cohort will explore and discover the topics mainly covered in two books:
Chen, L. M., Su, Z., Jiang, B. (2015). Mathematical Problems in Data Science: Theoretical and Practical Methods. Germany: Springer International Publishing.
There will be discussions around these topics and experience sharing from the different perspectives of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. As a result of these discussions, it is expected to develop recommendations to incorporate Data Science aspects in current courses and research programs.
The application process will be open until September 30th, 2023. To apply, please fill out the form: https://forms.gle/txZsdr9Lc8kY72em8
