Goal: Quantify how entrainment and drizzle affect the evolution of marine stratocumulus clouds (funding from DOE ASR).
How: Aircraft measurements from the SCILLA project (San Diego, June 2023). Collaboration with Lisa Welp-Smith at Purdue University.
Goal: Evaluate the accuracy of satellite retrievals of cloud properties (effective radius and cloud drop number concentration)
How: Compare aircraft measured cloud properties with co-located satellite retrievals. In collaboration with Mikael Witte at Naval Postgraduate School.
Goal: Improve the accuracy of cloud measurements from a phase Doppler interferomer.
How: Analyze lab and field data to develop better data processing methods. In collaboration with Artium Technologies.
Goal: Quantify the aerosol emissions from cooling towers.
How: Suspend a specialized instrument package over the cooling tower outlet. In collaboration with Tony Wexler and Chris Wallis at UC Davis.
Goal: Measure cumulus cloud microphysical properties during the EUREC4A/ ATOMIC project (Barbados, 2020).
How: Process data from FSSP, CDP, CIP and PIP instruments onboard the NOAA P3. Collaboration with Graham Feingold, NOAA.
