Keynote Speaker

Tim Schedl

Our Keynote Speaker this year will be Tim Schedl of Washington University in St. Louis. Tim is a Professor in Genetics and uses a combination of genetic, genomic, molecular, cellular and developmental approaches to investigate diverse aspects of germline biology. In his career his group has studied how germ cells decide between proliferation and meiotic entry, how cells progress through meiosis and gametogenesis, how the sexual fate of the germline is regulated, and the role of mitochondria in germline development.

Paul Sternberg

We are also incredibly fortunate to have Paul Sternberg , the Bren Professor of Biology of the California Institute of Technology to talk about Micropublications, an exciting new approach for peer reviewed, rapid publication of small snippets of data. In addition to his work with Micropublications and Wormbase, Paul has been a leader in diverse fields in C. elegans, including understanding coordination of organ development using the vulva as a model, understanding how genes control behavior and how behavior evolves, cell migration, and determining how organism behavior, physiology, and development is encoded by its genome.
