UCSC has a Graduate Student Association (GSA), which serves as a resource for graduate student issues and hosts graduate student events throughout the year. For current events and more information visit https://gsa.ucsc.edu/.
In addition to its Executive Board, graduate degree-awarding departments are asked to provide one representative to the GSA Council. Representatives attend Council meetings with voting rights and often serve on additional committees, and are awarded a stipend. If you are interested in becoming a GSA representative, please visit the GSA website for information on how to apply.
The Graduate Student Commons (GSC) is a physical space and organizationrun by graduate students for all graduate students at UCSC. They offer events and programming, a Peer Mentoring Program, spaces that can be reserved, the Sluggish Writers Collective, and funding for graduate student organized events. Please visit https://gradcommons.ucsc.edu/ for additional information, or visit the GSC in Quarry Plaza above Cafe Ivéta.
A Governing Board (the GSCGB) guides the direction of the GSC. Students interested in participating in the governance of the GSC are encouraged to contact the President of the GSCGB via gscommon@ucsc.edu. Certain leadership roles provide a stipend.
