All pupils should ensure they are wearing the correct clothing for the sport or activity they are taking part in. Here is a link to the UCS Sports Clothing section.
Pupils are strongly encouraged to purchase their own equipment for their sport/s. Wearing the correct footwear for the surface is vital for the progression of skill development and for safety.
ALL pupils should be aware of the signs & symptoms of concussion. Recognising these can help protect your teammates. We are delighted to support the RugbySafety.org program designed and developed by one of our own UCS pupils!
For those that want other information from their specific sports, see here:
It must be noted that concussion is not a concern only in rugby and we feel that all pupils should be educated regarding the safe practice in dealing with any suspected concussion injuries. The RFU and ECB seem to be leading the way in the player, parent, and coach education with regard to concussions, this is why we have included these links above.
We recommend that pupils in these year groups complete one of the following modules/read guidelines:
RUGBY CRICKET FOOTBALL HOCKEY NETBALL
If you do suffer from a concussion you MUST follow the Gradual Return to Play process (see below) and involve: your parents, the school nurse, your form tutor & deme/year warden, the head of sport you are playing plus your sports coach. You must also ensure any external sports clubs and coaches are aware of your condition at the time.
