Data science methods for genomic analysis

Abstract:

Genomic data science is a field of study that enables researchers to use powerful computational and statistical methods to decode the functional information hidden in DNA and RNA sequences. The analysis and interpretation of genomic data contributes to the understanding of human health and disease. In this talk, I will use several examples, including work of my own and others, to demonstrate the power of data science methods in biological and biomedical studies. I will introduce how different levels of information could be summarized from high-throughput sequencing data, and how statistical and computational questions are formulated and solved using these data.
