I am an incoming freshman at University of California, Riverside where I will be majoring in Biology. In pursuit of an occupation as a physician, I aim to increase health care accessibility and help deliver quality health care to underserved communities. I believe that my journey during and after getting a medical degree and public health degree will adequately equip me to make an ever deeper impact on my community. I love trying new foods, traveling, and researching today’s pressing issues. I am excited to help the community that I grew up in through R’mergency. Our team aims to educate the residents of Riverside and San Bernardino County on how to react in an emergency and when to go to the emergency room. By providing resources and knowledge to our community, we aim to save lives in the most critical of times.
Hi everyone! I have recently graduated from the University of La Verne with a B.S. in Psychology. My career goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Psychiatry and Mental Health. I am so excited to participate in this year's FPL program as I am passionate about giving back to communities in any capacity, especially those that are underserved. Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare and resources, regardless of their background, status, or income. My engagements with other organizations have been with The International Honor Society in Psychology, Project Sister Family Services, and volunteering at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. My passions include basketball, art, psychology/mental health (if it wasn't obvious already), movies, and spending time with my family. I hope we can all work towards overcoming the debilitating mental health stigma and believe it is vital to incorporate mental health with physical health. Our team hopes to spread awareness of discrimination and overcrowding in the ER, increase the preparedness of our community to emergency situations, and help individuals distinguish if an ER trip is imperative to their condition.
I am currently a rising senior at Hillcrest High School in Riverside, and my goal is to become a cardiologist or an anesthesiologist in the future. I love to travel, shop, dance, and read whenever possible, and I have a passion for being involved in my community, as well as being a part of several clubs at school such as BC2M, which is for mental health, Key Club, IDEAS Club, and I plan on starting the Red Cross Club next year at school. Through the FPL program, I would like to enhance my passion towards the medical field and gain more knowledge through this experience, as well as promoting that everyone should receive proper health care no matter what.
Hello! My name is Aly, and I am about to begin my final year at the University of California, Riverside to complete the requirements for my B.S. in Neuroscience. This is my second year participating in the Future Physicians Leader program at UCR, and I am very excited to share our group’s project with the community this summer! My aim is to acknowledge disparities and shortcomings in healthcare, especially after doing further research in emergency room overcrowding, while also providing our community with the resources and knowledge needed to navigate medical emergencies. Once I graduate from UCR, I hope to obtain a Master’s degree in Public Health before applying to medical school. My goal is to work as a physician in healthcare (I’m very interested in neurosurgery!), but I also aspire to enhance community health by deconstructing any and all barriers that block individuals from healthcare resources. When I’m not studying or working, I spend my time playing with my three younger siblings, picking up new books, and watching K-dramas and anime :D
I am a first-generation student that has just graduated from the University of California, Riverside. I just received my bachelors of science in chemistry, and I hope to be in the medical field. My career goal is to be a Physician Assistant. I want to help and educate the community on health-related issues that can better their future. I love to spend time with my family, I am a big sister of 5, and the smallest is two years old. I enjoy watching shows, movies, sleeping, and being adventurous.
I have just graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a B.S. in Neuroscience. I plan on going to medical school to become a neurologist as studying and diagnosing the brain and its complexity has been a passion of mine from as early as I can remember. My favorite hobbies include: playing basketball, playing the piano, swimming, and reading science fiction novels! Growing up in an underserved population, I realize what is lacking when it comes to proper health care and overall attention to the underrepresented. I believe that the FPL program will serve as a leeway into what it should be like to aid such underserved and underrepresented communities as a physician. This program, I hope, will also inspire its participants towards an increased commitment to offer such populations the proper education, care, and attention needed for it to thrive mentally and physically.
I am an incoming freshman at the University of California: Riverside. My overall goal is to become an emergency medicine physician in the California National Guard. I’m very passionate about making the world a better place in any capacity that I can. I spend a lot of time volunteering and reading about various topics such as history, politics, philosophy and epidemiology. I’ve started a mental health club at my high school, been a counselor for a political laboratory camp known as Boys State and am an ambassador for organ donation via OneLegacy. I firmly believe that all physicians should empower communities with important knowledge about their health and actively partake in preventative care (as opposed to just passively waiting until the patient needs higher level care) . I believe my philosophy fits in with FPL and I hope to find the skills to make that philosophy a reality as a physician some day.
