BCH 100 catalog description:
BCH 100 Introductory Biochemistry 4 Lecture,
3 hours; discussion, 1 hour. Prerequisite(s):
BIOL 005A with a grade of C- or better; CHEM
008C with a grade of C- or better, may be
taken concurrently, CHEM 08LC with a grade
of C- or better, may be taken concurrently
or CHEM 08HC with a grade of C- or better,
may be taken concurrently, CHEM 08HLC
with a grade of C- or better, may be taken
concurrently. Introduction to the biochemistry
of living organisms based on a study of the
structure, function, and metabolism of small
molecules and macromolecules of biological
significance. Examines selected animals, plants,
and microorganisms to develop a general
understanding of structure-function relationships,
enzyme action, regulation, bioenergetics, and
intermediary metabolism. Credit is awarded for
one of the following BCH 100 or BCH 100H.
